We are delighted to congratulate our represented artist Martin Claydon on his participation in The 22nd China International Cultural Industries Fair in Shenzhen as a guest artist from Australia and as the Finalist of the Australian China Art Residency Prize (ACAR)

Martin spoke about Australian art and culture at the Asia-Pacific Young Artists Exchange Salon, held on 21 May 2026 as part of the “Boundless Asian-Pacific Youth Art Exhibition”.

This prestigious event brought together young artists, curators, cultural practitioners and industry representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region to foster dialogue and creative collaboration.

Thank you to TWT Property Group for founding ACAR and supporting both Australian and Chinese artists.

Special thank you to ACAR Advisory Committee Member Patrick Mayoh for this amazing opportunity. Your generous support means a world to our emerging artist.

Inner Grounds | Talya Brookman Solo Exhibition
On view at CBD Gallery from 21May to 13June

Talya Brookman is a Sydney-based abstract painter whose practice is shaped by movement, stability, and the way places live within us.

Raised between London, Los Angeles and Australia, her work explores an inner psychological terrain — seeking structure within flux. Through layered oil and ink on canvas, her intuitive gestures create shifting forms that hover between recognition and dissolution, echoing fractal patterns and natural rhythms.

Artist Talk hosted by Sebastian Goldspink on Sat 6June 3-4PM

Thank you to Green Family Foundation for your generous support to Talya's solo exhibition.

Nostalgia | Julie Nicholson Solo Exhibition
On view at CBD Gallery from 21May to 13June

Julie Nicholson’s paintings explore personal narratives through landscape, light, and colour. Working in multiple layers of oil stick, pastel, and paint, she builds rich surfaces that reveal hidden memories and glimpses of what lies beneath.

Inspired by her stained-glass studies, Nicholson is drawn to the way light interacts with colour and line. Through glazing, mark-making, and palette knife scraping, she uncovers depth and history in every piece, a process she finds far more honest than a single layer.

Artist Talk hosted by Sebastian Goldspink on Sat 6June 3-4PM

CBD Gallery extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us for the opening of the dual solo exhibition Inner Grounds by Talya Brookman and Nostalgia by Julie Nicholson.

What deeply connects Talya and Julie in this exhibition is their shared journey. Both artists were born in London, experienced movement and transition in their early lives, and ultimately chose Australia as their home. Through their practices, each has developed a distinctive visual language of abstract landscapes shaped by personal experience and infused with the energy of nature.

This exhibition reflects on displacement, but also on finding stability; on movement, but also on discovering an anchor.

To learn more about Talya and Julie’s practices, please join us on Saturday, 6 June, from 3–4pm for the artist talk.
This artist talk will be hosted by Sebastian Goldspink.

The exhibition runs from 21 May to 13 June at CBD Gallery.

For all inquiries, please contact [email protected] or send us a DM.

Special thanks to TWT Group and Tiki Bar33 for supplying the wines for our opening.
