MEET THE ARTIST'S MODEL ~ David Glasson, PSM 🥇❤️

So, what does David do when he's not posing for a portrait, meeting & greeting our Adult Artists at morning teatime, or herding possums in Scone?

Last week, David attended an investiture at Government House where he was awarded the Public Service Medal for an outstanding 40 years public service to the maintenance and conservation of the Pyrmont Bridge in NSW, helping to preserve an important piece of Australia's engineering heritage.

As Supervisor Bridge Maintenance with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, David has combined technical expertise, innovation and leadership to keep the world's oldest surviving electrically operated swing-span bridge safely operating for millions of visitors, commuters and maritime users.

Beyond maintaining this iconic structure, David has shared his knowledge with apprentices, tradespeople and engineers, helping ensure specialised heritage skills are passed on to future generations. His commitment to mentoring and inspiring others has left a lasting impact both on the bridge and the people who help care for it (from Australian Honours and Awards) and www.gov.au/australian-honours-and-awards/recipient-profiles/2026-kings-birthday
..so, not just a pretty face then?

CONGRATULATIONS DAVID! SO WELL-DESERVED AND WE'RE ALL DEEPLY PROUD OF YOU!

POSTCARD FROM SANTORINI by Liz Coughlan (acrylic on canvas) 🎨🩷🧑‍🎨

Inspired by one of her many fabulous images, this view taken on the Greek island of Santorini just HAD to be transformed into a painting!

Liz, who also attends our Tuesday watercolour group, kindly allowed Mitch to use her reference with equally stunning results!

MEET THE ARTIST UPDATE! ~ Beth Viertel 👩‍🎨🩷🎨

A few months ago, Beth created this stunning portrait in acrylics on canvas at our Adult Art Class ~ her FIRST work of art!

Well, WOW! Look at it now!

Beth opted for a 'floating frame' in a red-brown timber that perfectly suited the colours of the dog, by Helen at Framing Good, and it certainly does look good!

Great work, Beth 🙌🫶👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

MEET THE ARTIST ~ Gail Greedy 👩‍🎨🩷🎨

Gail created this beautiful tropical island scene in our Adult Art watercolour group as a gift for her son, which I'm sure he'll love. For a busy working person, it literally screams 'escape!'

This is also a larger version of Gail's earlier version, created back in May 2026. I think they're both terrific. Which do you prefer?

Like to try watercolour...go on, you know you want to!
