NOW SHOWING | Shaping Ideas

Abstraction, printmaking, sculpture, installation - SHAPING IDEAS is an immersive exploration of how art is a site where thought is shaped, tested and transformed.

Some artists in this exhibition work through systems and precision; others through intuition, improvisation, or the immediacy of touch. Not just by the artist's intention, but through the materials they handle and the ways we encounter them - this exhibition invites you to consider how meaning arises through the dynamic exchange between mind, material, and perception. Open now at Gippsland Art Gallery, Gallery 1.

PLEASE NOTE | The Dock Espresso Bar is temporarily closing

Our beloved neighbours at The Dock Espresso Bar - the ones who keep us caffeinated and make our gallery days a little brighter - are taking a short break.

The Dock will be closed from Sunday 17 May to Friday 5 June while the space is refurbished by Council.

We'll miss them (and the coffee). See you on the other side! β˜•

EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHT | Nexus

This is what happens when Gippsland's creative community shows up.

Crystal Stubbs directs the East Gippsland Art Gallery by day and sculpts luminous glass forms by practice - works that feel like they've caught light and held onto it. Gavin Roberts is the resident artist at The Art C**t in Stratford, shaping timber, stone and steel into pieces that are simultaneously useful and whimsical, precise and alive. Cindy Tong works in Sale, creating ceramic vessels and sculptures inspired by banksia leaves, gum tree seed capsules and the quiet geometries of the natural world.

Three artists. Three material languages. A friendship, a conversation and an exhibition called NEXUS.

There's something rare about seeing artists who genuinely love what the others are making. It shows in the work. Come and see for yourself.

Selected works available for acquisition at nexusart.au
