Until 24 October 2026

Sandhills to Seascapes offers an intimate insight into an artist who has forged a visual language entirely his own, and showcases a unique journey, and the raw rich colours of the Mallee to the expansive light of the Aireys Inlet coast.

Expressionistic and immediately recognisable, this exhibition spans three defining phases of Warhurst’ career, revealing Warhurst’s highly individual and enduring connection to place. Bringing together predominantly unseen early oil paintings from Eddie Warhurst’s private collection and unveiling a new body of work specifically for this exhibition.

The exhibition reveals a profound shift in colour and atmosphere between the semi-desert landscapes of the Mallee and the coastal environment of Aireys Inlet and offers collectors a unique opportunity to engage with these deeply personal and significant works. Birds, a recurring motif, animate the landscapes and underscore the artist’s instinctive approach to composition and movement.

What a day. A full house for Eddie Warhurst. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who packed into Workspace 3496 + Gallery yesterday for the opening of Sandhills to Seascapes. Seeing the gallery absolutely overflowing with friends, family, former students, colleagues and members of our community was pretty special.

While Eddie wasn’t able to be with us in person, the gallery was absolutely filled with people who have been part of his life and story — family, friends, former students, colleagues and members of the community — all gathered to celebrate Eddie and his work.

A very special thank you to Myf Warhurst for officially opening her dad’s exhibition and sharing the occasion with us.

Tomorrow (Sunday Oct 4) I’m back in my old home town of Red Cliffs, Victoria, to open my Dad Eddie Warhurst’s art exhibition From Sandhills To Seascapes at Workspace 3496 + Gallery. The opening is at 1pm, so if you’re in the Sunraysia area and love the look of Dad’s art, come on down. Ed’s paintings are inspired by his time living in the Mallee and the surf coast of Victoria, where he now resides. This gorgeous painting above sadly isn’t in this exhibition, as I’ve already nabbed it, but if you love the look of this then Dad’s exhibition will delight! I’m sure it’s going to be a special day full of familiar faces too.
Also, the gallery is two doors down from the newsagent where I had my first job, so I might even pop in there and try and sell someone a Quick Pick 😆 x
