Immigration Museum explores the moving stories of people from all over the world who have migrated to Australia. Located in Old Customs House (Melbourne, Australia), in the heart of the city opposite Melbourne's Yarra River. Immigration Museum is open daily 10am – 5pm
Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. Entry to Immigration Museum is: Adult $15, Concession* and Child (3–16 years) free. Additional charges may apply to some exhibitions.

On Country: Photography from Australia opens today at Immigration Museum.

This exhibition reframes what it means to be on Country through the work of 17 Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists and collectives.

Bringing together diverse cultural perspectives, this exhibition explores Country as collaborator, subject and storyteller. Through innovative photographic practices, the artists challenge conventional narratives, redefine contemporary photography and reconsider who holds the power to tell stories about place.

The result is a compelling exploration of connection, identity, community and belonging, offering new ways of understanding the relationships between people, culture and country.
This exhibition was originally developed by PHOTO Australia and co-produced with the Rencontres d'Arles.

The story of Yo Soy Collective is, in many ways, the story of Melbourne’s Latinx community. With nearly 48,000 people of Latin American heritage living across Victoria, these diverse communities are rich with culture, creativity and connection. At the heart of it all is the art of gathering — coming together to celebrate identity, share culture, build community and create something meaningful.

Living with legal blindness, Charlotte Dougherty discovered passion and purpose in football, a sport built on skill, trust and teamwork.

Today, she proudly represents Australia as a player for the Bilbies, the Australian Women’s Blind Football team.

Blind football is unlike any other adaptation of football. Every player wears eyeshades to ensure equal vision, the ball has a sound device to help players track its movement, and the crowd stays silent so teammates and coaches can communicate clearly.

Coming to Immigration Museum on October 16!

On Country: Photography from Australia is a collection of contemporary photography by Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists.

Being ‘on Country’ is more than just being situated somewhere, it is about being shaped by that place, connected to it, and having a responsibility to care for it. The exhibition explores the complex and evolving relationship between Country, colonialism, community and identity.

Featuring the work of Tony Albert & David Charles Collins, Ying Ang, Atong Atem, Sonja and Elisa Jane Carmichael, Maree Clarke, Michael Cook, Brenda L Croft, J Davies, Liss Fenwick, Adam Ferguson, Robert Fielding, The Huxleys, Ricky Maynard, Lisa Sorgini, Tace Stevens, wani toaishara and James Tylor.

This exhibition was originally developed by PHOTO Australia and co-produced with the Rencontres d'Arles.
