Celebrating a century since work started on the Kyogle ~ Brisbane railway line we honoured the vision that underpinned a 1926 nation building project.

As we look towards the 2030 Railway Centenary ~ stay tuned for how you can get involved.

🚂 You are cordially invited to the Centenary ‘Reenactment’ of the Sod Turning Ceremony ~ signifying work starting on building the Kyogle to Brisbane railway line.

This 1926 nation building project saw the Cwealth Attorney General, along with many dignitaries, descend on Kyogle.

A public holiday was declared ❗️

🪏 With pick and shovel technology, four years later in 1930 a single gauge railway linked the states of NSW - QLD ~ including the ingenious Cougal Border Spiral Loop.

Who knew … 🚂

💯 This year represents 100 yrs since work started on the Kyogle ~ Brisbane Railway line.

On the 23 June 1926 a ‘ceremonial’ sod was turned, signifying the commencement of a nation building project.

Kyogle Museum is seeking any historic memorabilia items from that significant day

With Kyogle Readers and Writers festival, ABC North Coast Bridie Tanner checked out possibly the best little museum on the north rivers !

The former Queensland National Bank, now known as Stratheden House, occupies a prominent corner at 138–140 Summerland Way, Kyogle.

Constructed in 1921–1922, the building is a rare and highly intact example of the Federation Arts & Crafts style applied to a commercial bank. Designed by architect F. J. Board of Lismore and built by W. Tyrrell of Kyogle, the structure combines brickwork, roughcast render, timber detailing and a distinctive corner tower.

It remains one of the most architecturally significant early 20th century commercial buildings in Kyogle.
