Step inside one of the region's most remarkable time capsules — our original blacksmith shop, unchanged since the day Jindera's last working smithy - Ernst "Frosty" Wehner - passed away in 1994. 🔨🔥
Ernst (father of our dedicated museum president, Margie Wehner) was the last working blacksmith in town, carrying on a family trade passed to him from his father Fred Wehner who first arrived in the area in 1890.
Today, you can walk into this workshop and you'll find it exactly as Frosty left it — the forge, the tools, the soot‑darkened walls — all preserved just as they were when the doors closed.
It’s one of the most authentic blacksmith spaces you’ll find anywhere in regional Australia.
Visit the Jindera Pioneer Museum and step into this piece of living history yourself. Open 7 days 10am to 3pm.
