Yesterday, M&G QLD’s Executive Director, Rebekah, had the pleasure of visiting Logan Art Gallery with Andrew Arnott and Karin Schack, owners of the extraordinary collection we have had the privilege to share with audiences across Australia since 2022 .

Over the course of its four-year tour, 'Three Echoes – Western Desert Art' has travelled to 13 communities where it has been experienced and enjoyed by around 65,000 people. It is currently on display at its final venue and concludes tomorrow, 13 June 2026.

It has been a delight to work with Andrew and Karin to develop and tour this beautiful exhibition, which celebrates the artists, and the calibre, breadth and diversity of artworks to emerge from the first 30 years of the Western Desert Art movement. It was wonderful to have Andrew and Karin join us to see the exhibition one last time at Logan Art Gallery.

Our thanks to the Logan Art Gallery team, Chris Bennie, Niomi Sands and Briar Faulkner for warmly welcoming us and sharing the wonderful feedback the exhibition is receiving from their community.

M&G QLD’s newest national touring exhibition ‘Afghanistan’ by photojournalist Andrew Quilty closes at Noosa Regional Gallery, QLD, on 14 June.

Next year, the exhibition will continue its national tour, opening at Broken Hill City Art Gallery, NSW, on 7 May 2027.

Curated by Ellie Waterhouse, ‘Afghanistan’ is a profoundly moving and powerful exhibition of photographs by award-winning photojournalist and author Andrew Quilty, captured during his years living in the Afghan capital, Kabul, from 2013 to 2022. 'Afghanistan' offers a personal and evocative narrative, exploring the country’s rich culture against the backdrop of war and conflict. Quilty describes his work from this period as an ‘imperfect portrait of time and place’. His photographs balance moments of beauty and brutality, humanising the effects of war while inviting reflection on resilience, hope, and the impact of conflict on everyday life.

'Afghanistan' is a M&G QLD touring exhibition presented in partnership with photojournalist and author Andrew Quilty, and curator Ellie Waterhouse. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program. It is proudly sponsored by Heckler and supported by Human Rights Watch.

Last chance to see ‘The Brothers Gruchy’ before it closes at Banana Shire Regional Art Gallery, Biloela, QLD, on 12 June!

Brothers Tim and Mic grew up in Bundaberg and, along with being celebrated individual artists, they have worked extensively together since the mid-1980s.

‘The Brothers Gruchy’ features works from their collaborative explorations in the use of video, multimedia and performative art practices.

'The Brothers Gruchy’ is a touring exhibition curated by Bundaberg Regional Galleries and presented in partnership with Museums & Galleries Queensland.
