🚨IMPORTANT NEWS ALERT FOR QUEENSLAND MEMBERS 🚨

QLD POLICE LAUNCH OPERATION WHISKEY FIRESTORM

The Queensland Police Service have announced the launch of Operation Whiskey Firestorm, described as “a high-impact statewide initiative designed to tackle the critical issue of firearm safety.”

QPS have said that as part of this, they will be “conducting extensive audits, coordinating regional operations, and working with licensed firearm owners to ensure they meet safety and ownership rules and regulations.”

The theme being touted by QPS is “Safety first, secure always”.

We are encouraging all our members to take a moment to review their secure storage facilities and ensure they are compliant – you can find the details here:

https://www.police.qld.gov.au/weapon-licensing/safe-storage-weapons-and-ammunition

❗️Remember: Fi****ms MUST be stored unloaded, and stored separately from ammunition.

❗️ Bolt-action fi****ms must have the bolt removed, while other types must have the action open.

‼️ Queensland Police must make an appointment for a mutually agreeable time to inspect your fi****ms – they cannot (and should not) just show up at your front door.‼️ ️

We will keep you updated once we have more information on this latest QPS initiative and what it will mean for you as a Shooters Union member.

We cannot help but feel this is a serious waste of limited police resources, especially given the increased youth crime rate and other public safety issues (none of which relate to fi****ms) throughout Queensland, and are also somewhat concerned by the tone and language in the QPS press release on this initiative – we will be raising this with Police Minister Dan Purdie.

We stand with the Shooter's of WA! Please share this around and support where you can.

Hopefully this all falls apart on them and nothing like this enters Queensland.

WA have released its Fi****ms Regulations on a Saturday a few days out from Christmas, following zero consultation with the major shooting representative groups (including us and WAFCA).

There's a lot of worrying stuff in there, but the critical things:
- Lever release/button release guns and revolving rifles are banned
- Semi-auto air-rifles are now all Cat C/D depending on magazine
- Large calibre cartridge bans (already known about)
- Excessive (and potentially impossible for many shooters to meet) secure storage requirements

There are about 300 pages in the regs so it's going to take a while to go through everything and find out even more of the issues in it.

The regulations aren't coming into effect until March 2025, so don't let it ruin your Christmas - but we do encourage you to contact your MP (both houses) as well as the local media, especially if you live in regional WA.

The regulations are available here: https://www.legislation.wa.gov.au/legislation/statutes.nsf/law_s54842.html&view=asmade

This year's CPAC Hungary attracted an unprecedented three thousand participants. The event was attended by nearly 500 foreign guests from six continents and featured a total of 80 speakers.
This is a Poignant speech from Eva Vlaardingerbroek and deserves to be shared. It is an opinion that the general media turn their camera's off for.
