🌳 Step Back in Time and Discover the Fascinating History of the Timber Industry 🌳
Have you ever wondered how Queensland’s timber industry helped shape our communities, homes, and way of life? At the Woodworks Museum, history comes alive through engaging guided tours that offer a unique glimpse into the people, machinery, skills, and stories behind one of Australia’s most important industries.
Join us on Wednesday and Friday mornings for an unforgettable journey through the Museum and our collection of historic outbuildings. Each guided tour runs for approximately two hours and is led by one of our knowledgeable and friendly volunteer guides, who are passionate about sharing the rich heritage of timber, craftsmanship, and rural life.
As you explore the Museum, you’ll experience far more than static displays. Our tours are informative and full of character. You’ll hear the stories of the workers and tradespeople who kept the industry moving, learn about traditional woodworking techniques, and see historic machinery and tools up close.
To make the experience even more memorable, we try to include two live working demonstrations. Depending on the day, you may witness the sparks flying in the Blacksmith Shop, hear the roar of the Sawmill in action, or enjoy hands-on displays showcasing traditional woodworking tools and techniques. These demonstrations provide a rare opportunity to see heritage trades brought to life before your eyes.
