Stargazing

**Stargazing** Although we didn't get to use our Indigenous Astronomy Star Wheel last night, we were fortunate to enjoy some wonderful views of the night sky.

We were able to see the Moon in remarkable detail and take a look at Venus, one of the brightest objects in our evening sky.

Our journey then took us to the Southern Cross, known to many First Nations peoples as Mirrabooka. We also observed Alpha Centauri, which appears as a single star to the naked eye but is actually a double star system, and the beautiful Jewel Box Cluster, a sparkling collection of stars nestled beside the Southern Cross.

There are many Indigenous stories connected to the night sky, offering opportunities for both young and old to learn, wonder and explore. We encourage you to discover these stories for yourself.

Indigenous Astronomy Star Wheels are available for purchase.

We're hoping the clouds disperse and bring us clear skies for our next FREE viewing session on Friday 26 June from 5.30pm at Gloucester Gallery.
