Michael Parker Galleries

Michael Parker Galleries Michael Parker is a self-taught Australian artist whose intuitive practice has unfolded over more than 40 years.

His work is deeply layered both in material and meaning. At the heart of it all is a desire to create art that feels deeply human.

Admit One to the Past is a layered encaustic work that gently blends classical imagery with found fragments of memory and time.

At its heart, a quiet moment unfolds, a woman reading by a window surrounded by worn textures, a torn ticket, a bird in flight, and traces of faded text.

A soft reflection on memory and imagination, it invites us to consider what we keep, what we release, and how even stillness continues to shift with time.

Perfect reflects the idea that what we often see as flawed may hold a deeper kind of beauty.

Boldly stating “perfect” while quietly holding “imperfection” beneath the surface, the work plays with contrast, tension, and shifting meaning.

Loose marks and flowing forms resist control, settling instead into a raw, honest balance inviting us to see beauty not in polish, but in what simply is.

A quiet morning in the galleries. 🤍

Before a new week begins, we're moving artworks into new homes on the walls, while the rain dances against the windows outside. With grey skies overhead, it's the perfect day to slow down. Inside, the fireplaces are lit, the heaters are warm, and the galleries are feeling especially cosy.

One of our current crowd favourites is With Brave Wings She Flies.

A celebration of inner courage and quiet awakening, the central figure gazes upward beneath a radiant golden halo, a symbol of hope and expanding consciousness. Sparrows sweep through the composition, representing resilience, freedom and gentle strength, while layers of marks, patterns and handwritten affirmations speak to the beauty and complexity of personal growth.

If you're looking for a warm place to escape the weather and immerse yourself in art, we'd love to welcome you.

Standing in the Shadow of the Moon has found its home in the main bedroom and WIR, right alongside The Bay of Wandering Sails in 's house on .

Soft, layered washes and half-formed marks drift across the surface, faint silhouettes and scattered symbols that feel like echoes caught in fog, the kind of piece that rewards a second look rather than giving everything away at once. Tayla calls it the never-ending painting, one that keeps catching the eye long after the first glance.

With the room's oak floors and oak frame, the soft, muted tones pick up on the timber beautifully, less about matching, more about creating harmony across the whole space.

Available online now. 🌙

Did you catch it Sunday night on ? 👀 chose The Bay of Wandering Sails for their main bedroom and WIR, and we think it's the perfect finishing touch.

Calm turquoise waters, leaning palms, and a quiet sense of movement, this piece brings a bit of easy, coastal calm into the room. The kind of piece that makes a bedroom feel like an escape rather than just a place to sleep.

Available online now, this one's a coastal daydream we'd happily wake up to every morning. 🌊

"He's an absolute whiz." 😄 Rick wasn't wrong.

Before anything went on the walls, Michael met with the contestants to talk through sizing, options, and which piece might work where, including Standing in the Shadow of the Moon, now hanging in Rick and Tayla's main bedroom and WIR.

"It's the never-ending painting," Tayla says, "it's gonna catch the eyes of the beholders too." For Michael, it always comes back to harmony, the oak floors, the oak frame, the soft colours, and a piece that pulls the whole room together.

Today we’re sharing a staff favourite.

Beneath the Surface invites you into a layered world of movement, mystery, and introspection. Koi fish drift through vivid washes of colour and abstract marks, their fluid motion contrasted by a quiet female face partially hidden within the composition.

The work explores identity, resilience, and the tension between what we reveal and what we hold back, like the koi themselves, symbols of perseverance and transformation.

Available as a print online, there is also a rare studio “Diamond Edition”, where delicate glass shards overlay the figure, adding a striking tactile dimension. Do you own a Diamond Edition piece, or would you be interested in seeing one in person?
