A Song for the Wind captures a fleeting moment, like breath held in the air or a melody carried on the breeze. A quiet tribute to intuition, inner voice, and the whispers we follow when we trust the wind.

"If I spend years doing this, maybe one day I'll get really good at it."

Michael taught himself to paint through trial and error, plenty of mistakes along the way, some of which turned into the best parts of a piece. Along the way he got curious about materials, oils, acrylics, encaustic wax, resin, and now often works with several in a single painting, each one bringing something different to the surface.

Tea or coffee in hand, a walk down to the dam, then into the studio, paints pulled out, brushes loaded, a piece slowly taking shape.

Two pieces, one series, and a pairing Michael says he's never actually seen together before, until now. Ending up in house two on , Rainfall Over Quiet Waters and Horizon sit side by side in 's house and honestly, it works.

Both part of the Sea Mist series, Horizon leans into the stillness of open country, sand and driftwood pressed into the surface. Rainfall Over Quiet Waters captures that same calm, the hush after rain finally clears.

Could you call it a diptych? Maybe. Either way, it's all about letting two pieces talk to each other. 🌊

The Bay of Calm Adventures made an appearance in Adam and Jolene's house on last week.

Small boats drift through quiet island inlets and rest beside simple piers, with textured hills, palm trees and a few playful details dotted around. It's the kind of painting that makes you want to slow down and wander a bit.

What do you see?

Half our team sees crystal-like layers forming under glass, the other half sees deep irises eyes full of light, movement, and untold stories.

Either way, it’s the kind of piece that changes depending on how long you look at it.

"That's his job? Being an artist?" Michael was hooked from that moment on.

Growing up, his mum was a painter, and watching her turn a blank canvas into a landscape or a seascape fascinated him from the start. But it was a family holiday, meeting one of her friends who made his full-time living from art, that made it click, this could actually be a job.

The rest, as they say, is history.

With Brave Wings She Flies, added to prize pool last week, is a celebration of inner courage and quiet awakening.

A figure looks upward, a golden halo behind her, sparrows circling around, and handwritten affirmations worked into the layers underneath. Warm and cool tones sit side by side, giving the whole thing a soft, almost dreamy feel. A piece about trusting your own path, and backing yourself a little more.

Lucky winner, whoever gets to take this piece home. 🏆

I know it’s resin… I watched him mix it myself, but tell me why this is giving major W***y Wonka energy? 🍫✨

The colours, the swirls, the unexpected magic happening in the studio, it feels a little like stepping into a world where anything could happen next.
