Opening this winter, artist Yhonnie Scarce presents her major solo exhibition 'Woomera – field recording'. Returning to her place of birth, Scarce reckons with Woomera's complicated history as a weapons testing facility and the ongoing impacts of that militarisation on Kokatha Country.

New works include a series of flags that draw on archival images from the Maralinga tests - interrogating how national identity is constructed, claimed, and imposed on Country.

Congratulations to Drew Connor Holland, winner of the 69th Blake Prize: People’s Choice Award! 🏆

Drew Connor Holland’s artwork ‘excerpts (hand)’ is a tender work about care. The framed print features a tightly cropped image of hands resting across a body, as if the figure is receiving an embrace. Drawn from Titian’s ‘Penitent Magdalene’ the work carries an aged and weathered surface, an illusion carefully constructed by the artist using materials connected to a deeply personal period of caring for his grandmother during her neurological decline.

The materials used to form the surface of the print include objects from that time of care: stained sheets, scrap stationery, and leftover craft materials belonging to his grandmother. The work reflects on tenderness, memory, and the act of holding on, exploring how art can help us navigate emotions that are often difficult to articulate in the present.

Congratulations to Drew Connor Holland, and all finalists for sharing such thoughtful and powerful works as part of the 69th Blake Prize.

Thank you to all who visited and cast their vote. Your support and engagement continue to make the Blake Prize such a meaningful celebration of contemporary art and ideas.

Meet the winner of this year’s NEXT Exhibition Award - Alysia Jerochim!

Alysia received the top honour for her ceramic sculpture Fragmented Humanity, selected for its strong conceptual approach and technical ex*****on.

NEXT 2025 showcases artworks by 21 HSC Visual Arts students from 12 schools across the Liverpool Local Government Area, highlighting the depth of emerging creative talent within the community.

Parking is limited at the Liverpool Powerhouse, so if you’re travelling via Liverpool Station or Glenfield Station, make sure you board the T2 Inner West & Leppington Line and get off at Casula Station, right on the doorstep to the festival. 📍

Lakewood Crescent Closure 🚧

Residents and visitors are advised of changed traffic conditions on Lakewood Crescent, Casula between Congressional Drive and Phoenix Crescent from now until Saturday 27 February 2027.

The temporary road and footpath closure is required to safely carry out construction of the new M5 Motorway westbound bridge as part of the M5 Westbound Upgrade. 🛑

Work hours will be:
⌚ Monday to Friday: 7am to 6pm
⌚ Saturday: 8am to 1pm

We ask motorists to drive to conditions and follow directions from traffic controllers and signage and allow extra travel time when visiting the Liverpool Powerhouse.
