VR Harris Coins now available and plenty of stock for everyone, no surprise greaser sorry. That will come next year.
The Harris coin features a type 1 on the front and a type 2 on the back with open doors, the first coin with open doors.
The refurbished Harris 'Grey Ghost' features the Teacup and Met liveries, more Met liveries to follow next year.
As 2026 marks 20 years since the 4D was scrapped, I thought this was the time to release the 4D coin. This is the incorrect $10 version with the wrong in-service date. The correct version will hopefully arrive in time for the Australian Model Railway Association - Victorian Branch Caulfield Expo.

Harris and Grey Ghost coins available early next week.
Also, a surprise release. Melbourne's 4D, this year marks 20 years since it was scrapped.
PLEASE NOTE: this coin has an incorrect entered service date(1996 not 1992), this is in the process of being fixed however the correct version is still a month away. This incorrect version will be sold at $10ea.
Also try filtering buy newest in case you have missed any of the new coin posts.
All these coins will be available at the Goulburn Model Expo next weekend(29-30 Aug), Veolia Stadium, Braidwood Rd, Goulburn.

FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF ‘RAILWAY COINS’ TODAY – THANK YOU!

Five years ago today, Railways Coins released its first two coins: the VR ‘Blue & Gold’ and the cut-to-shape 3801. Next year I hope to issue the 100th coin design.

Reflecting on the first half of 2026

2026 saw ‘Railway Coins’ attend two fantastic expos for the first time. One was in Adelaide, and the other was in Brisbane. Both were hugely popular events and I look forward to attending them again, I’m keen to make them part of ‘Railway Coins’ expo calendar.

This year we have also issued a number of unplanned coins when inspiration struck: V-set finale and the retro XPT. Both coins have been really popular and I’ve loved sharing these designs. There will be more finale coins as our favourite trains sign off for the last time.

Next year will see the final XPT coin in the collection. I plan to release this in January along with a new tram coin. This will take the XPT collection up to 14 (which includes a finale coin of course). If you missed out buying the XPT collection earlier, you can purchase the full set, including sold out coins, online.

What’s coming up for the remainder of 2026?

Coin Releases

· VIC: Two Harris coin artworks have been released, and these will be online very, very soon. There is also a third Victorian coin, keep an eye out for that next week!

· NSW: I’m currently designing some new coins for the Rosehill Expo: an EMU and the other is a well know passenger service that no longer operates. Can you guess what it might be?

· WA: A new 3’6” coin for a WA based train is also under development. Artwork will be released as soon as it’s available. I also have a single (yes, just one!) FMG coin left so, if you’re interested send a PM.

I’m really looking forward to attending the following expos between now and the end of the year. Last night R766 conducted load trials up Cowan Bank. This was the last step before the locomotive can receive certification to lead trains on the Sydney Trains network.
