You wont want to miss this weeks Art &...Lecture as we dive into the fascinating world of what it means to be a Renaissance woman with Dr Lorraine Kypiotis.
The Renaissance ideal; mastering all knowledge, developing every skill, was written for men. But nobody told the women♀🪻🪐
Lavinia Fontana. Artemisia Gentileschi. And so many others. These remarkable artists defied the odds to build extraordinary careers across the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th centuries and their stories deserve to be told. Meet the original Renaissance Women.

Explore New Mythologies with Australian artist Petrina Hicks in this weeks Art &...Lecture🐉✨🧝‍♀️🐲
Photographer Petrina Hicks will discuss her art practice and the tension between familiarity and strangeness in her work. She will talk about her use of a hyperreal space to explore the psyche of females and animals.
Hicks’s will discuss the symbolism, archetypes, and myths she draws inspiration from when creating her own reimagined mythologies.

Petrina Hicks is an Australian artist who has gained a reputation for her large-scale photographs that explore representations of women and feminine iconography throughout art history and mythology.
The porous boundaries between human and animal states and the affinity of females and animals are central to her work.
Her work is held in many public collections including National Gallery of Victoria, National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, Art Gallery of Western Australia, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington. .hicks

Have you ever wanted to know more about Anslem Keifer? Join art lecturer Liz Gibson as she unpacks the bold, layered world of Kiefer, a titan of contemporary art. Known for his monumental works and unconventional materials (lead, ash, straw, gold leaf), Kiefer’s art carries the weight of history, myth, and transformation.
From post-WWII Germany to the mysticism of Paul Celan and the dramatic scores of Wagner, Kiefer’s practice is a deep dive into destruction, rebirth, and the alchemy of memory.
Don’t miss this fascinating talk!
