Anglesea Art Space is a community-based gallery run by the Surf Coast Shire on Wadawurrung Country. Please check posts for current information.

HOURS OPEN
> AAS opening days/hours change from exhibition to exhibition. Anglesea Art Space is a community-based gallery run by Surf Coast Shire Council at Kuarka Dorla (traditional name for Anglesea/Anglesea River) on Wadawurrung Country. The space is available to emerging and established artists of all disciplines (including visual art, performance, installation) to exhibit, work and experiment at a minimal cost. We strive to support artists to develop professionally, sell artworks, connect with other creatives and widen their audiences. EXHIBIT AT ANGLESEA ART SPACE

> the space is provided for 3 weeks, which includes 3 weekends, bump in (set up) and bump out (dismantle)
> the cost is $145 pw (inc gst) = $435 (inc gst) for a 3 week period.
> 20% commission (inc gst) applies to all sales
> someone must be available to mind the gallery during the advertised exhibition opening hours. All funds go back into the Art Space for the purchase of essential items and program development.

With over 70 diverse works by our local creatives, it's a tough decision - but that's what makes it so much fun!

Come and spend some time to view this incredible collection of paintings, drawings, printmaking, mixed media, photographs, sculpture, ceramics and textiles - and cast your all important vote. There's $500 up for grabs!

A full house, incredible artwork, and plenty to celebrate! ✨

Opening Night of the inaugural Surf Coast Shire Community Art Prize brought together artists, friends,
family and art lovers to celebrate this year's winners and the vibrant talent within our local creative community.

A big thank you to our judges, Kathy Hołówko and Dr Fiona Lee, for their thoughtful judging, and congratulations to all artists exhibiting in this first-ever Community Art Prize.

Thank you also to Mayor Libby Stapleton-Gleeson for
officially opening the exhibition, CEO Robyn Seymour
for presenting the awards, and Councillor Tony Phelps
for joining us in celebrating this milestone event.

It was fantastic to see such strong support for our local visual artists and the creative spirit that makes our community so special. ❤️

Join us Friday night for the opening celebration of the inaugural Surf Coast Shire Community Arts Prize at Anglesea Art Space.

Artworks from 70+ local artists make this a wonderful celebration of the creativity and talent found across the Surf Coast Shire.

Come along, explore the exhibition, meet some of the artists, catch up with friends and our creative community, and be there as the award winners are announced.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is the last day to visit the beautiful Illustration Exhibition, and to do some drawing! Use one of the "how to draw" sheets, be inspired by the artworks on the wall, or draw something from your own imagination!

Open 11am-3pm.

Then next week we're excited to present the inaugural Surf Coast Shire Community Art Prize! 72 artists have entered and there's $3500 of prize money.

Expressions of Interest for individual artists, groups and collectives interested in exhibiting at Anglesea Art Space from January to June 2027 close today!

Anglesea Art Space is an affordable, accessible exhibition space located opposite the beautiful Anglesea River (Kuarka Dorla), that gives local artists and creatives the opportunity to present their work, connect with audiences and be part of the Surf Coast’s creative community.

> $444* (inc GST) for the 3 week exhibition period, (* $148 per week, inc GST).

The Sketch & Scribe Illustration Exhibition is open Thu-Sun 11am-4pm until Sun 4 October, and it's a perfect school holiday activity!

Bring the kids in (or just yourself!) and be inspired by the enchanting artworks being showcased - then stay and draw something to add to our gallery wall.

On Sunday 27 Sep 11am, children and their parents are also welcome to come to Storytime with award-winning children's book author Stef Gemmill (arrive a little earlier). Stef coordinated this beautiful exhibition and is the creative force behind the Sketch and Scribe Festival in Torquay a couple of weeks ago. Amazing!

The 'Sketch & Scribe Festival Illustration Exhibition', celebrates the magic of childhood through visual storytelling.

Featuring works by emerging and established children’s book illustrators, the exhibition brings together playful characters, imaginative scenes and dreamlike landscapes for visitors of all ages to explore.

It's always amazing to have so many artists showing their work in the space at the same time.

Visitors love the diversity as they move from piece to piece, sparking conversations about particular techniques, incredible details, what they like and dislike(!), who they know personally and what studios they have previously visited, what inspires them and how talented everyone is 😍

This post is dedicated to the 2D.
The paintings, prints, photographs and mixed media. A few of the works have already left for new homes 🚀

And with a copy of the Surf Coast Arts Trail studios on the window, there's been a lot of gathering outside to check out what studios will be open 1-2 August. Exciting!!

A Taste of the Trail exhibition closes Sunday.

Meet some of the exhibiting artists 11am-4pm.

Then next week, we welcome a special project - Boundless: Bookmaking Studio - Exhibition Space, Inspiration Space, Making Space.
