Caroline Hawkins Artist Spotlight Feature has come to a close after many wonderful lovely visitors & collectors.

The three remaining birds shall stay on view in the Gallery Collective for anyone who missed the Spotlight Feature period.

In "Sending Love to the Birds", fibre artist Caroline Hawkins asks us to recognise the vulnerability of those we share place with as H5 bird flu spreads through Australian wildlife.

Each bird is created by lived observation, sketching, leading to 3D form, with wire armatures wrapped in reclaimed fabric, wool and twine retain the visible touch of the artist's hand, linking ecological care with material care.

We're delighted to share that artist Eddie Warhurst's "Sandhills To Seascapes" Exhibition is featuring at Workspace 3496 + Gallery.

The Exhibition opens this Sunday, featuring Eddie's daughter, broadcaster & writer Myf Warhurst, & is being presented by Workspace 3496 + Gallery in collaboration with Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) as part of its 70th anniversary celebrations.

It is particularly meaningful to support the exhibition’s return to the landscape foundational to Eddie’s practice: supporting the heart of the artist and carrying something of Aireys Inlet to the Mallee, just as his paintings have enabled us to encounter the Mallee from the coast.

This reciprocal movement of art, artists and audiences is what makes collaboration between regional galleries so vital to our wider cultural ecology.

Sandhills to Seascapes offers an intimate insight into an artist who has forged a visual language entirely his own, and showcases a unique journey, and the raw rich colours of the Mallee to the expansive light of the Aireys Inlet coast.

Expressionistic and immediately recognisable, this exhibition spans three defining phases of Warhurst’ career, revealing Warhurst’s highly individual and enduring connection to place. Bringing together predominantly unseen early oil paintings from Eddie Warhurst’s private collection and unveiling a new body of work specifically for this exhibition.

The exhibition reveals a profound shift in colour and atmosphere between the semi-desert landscapes of the Mallee and the coastal environment of Aireys Inlet and offers collectors a unique opportunity to engage with these deeply personal and significant works. Birds, a recurring motif, animate the landscapes and underscore the artist’s instinctive approach to composition and movement.

Presented in collaboration with Mildura Arts Centre as part of its 70th anniversary celebrations. Special thank to the Eagles Nest Fine Art Gallery, Aireys Inlet for the exhibition facilitation.
