About El Chifladoseo
Located opposite Finky Park in Turdera, one of the most important green spaces in the southern area, and just four blocks from Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue, El Chifladoseo —a combination of the words chiflado and museo—is an independent museum dedicated entirely to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the material and cultural heritage of The Three Stooges. It is the first museum of its kind in Ibero-America and one of the few dedicated spaces of its type worldwide. Its collection comprises nearly 3,000 items from various countries—many of them unique or extremely rare—with over 1,500 currently on permanent display. The museum is particularly notable for its focus on international reach and Spanish-language materials, offering a perspective rarely seen in the traditional historiography of the comedy trio. Through objects spanning from the 1920s to the present day, El Chifladoseo offers a comprehensive journey through the history of The Three Stooges: from the origins of their vaudeville routines and the development of their classic gags to their enduring impact as a key reference for subsequent generations of comedians. The exhibition also explores their personal lives, family backgrounds, and the human environment in which they developed as artists. The exhibits include publications, toys and merchandise, records, promotional and advertising materials, original photographs, autographs, posters, original artwork, and unique pieces—including a life-sized figure that gives visitors a sense of the trio's actual physical presence off-screen. The mission
The museum's objective is to collect, preserve, and contextualize objects and audiovisual material related to the Three Stooges, both as a group and in the individual careers of its members, so that their legacy can be understood, appreciated, and enjoyed by those who grew up with their comedy as well as those who are yet to discover it. In this way, and from an independent museological perspective, the museum preserves and transmits their legacy to present and future generations. El Chifladoseo has not regular days or times of opening and closing, the people interested must call or e-mail, day and time is settled and the museum opens. Occasionally we do monthly scheduled openings (see Eventos section on the museum's page). There is an admission charge of AR$ 3,000 for each visitor (retirees, students with ID card, disabled, and war veterans 25% discount. Children up to 6 years old are FREE). The proceeds will go to charity and to amortize the museum's operating costs. Due to the unique nature of some of the collectibles on display there, photography and filming are NOT allowed inside the museum, nor smoking or enter with food and/or drink. The museum's exhibits are designed to accommodate different levels of knowledge, without requiring prior experience. Why are photos and videos not allowed inside El Chifladoseo? The restriction on photography and filming is based on preservation criteria, rights, and the museum experience. Many of the exhibited pieces are original, fragile, or of limited circulation, and repeated exposure to flashes, lights, or devices can affect their preservation. Furthermore, some of the material is protected by copyright, reproduction rights, or specific agreements, which the museum must respect. In addition, the absence of cameras fosters a more attentive and reflective experience, focused on the tour and cultural mediation. In specific cases—research, press, or institutional documentation—the museum may authorize specific recordings under controlled conditions. Why does the museum limit the mass dissemination of its collection on social media and other public channels? El Chifladoseo views its collection as a rare and significant cultural heritage, not as content for immediate consumption. Excessive, decontextualized, or indiscriminate exposure of the pieces on social media or mass channels can weaken their exceptional character, dilute their symbolic value, and cheapen the perception of the collection as a whole. In the realm of heritage, rarity is defined not only by the physical existence of objects, but also by how they are accessed, the context in which they are presented, and the accompanying cultural mediation. For this reason, the museum prioritizes curated, selective, and thoughtful dissemination that preserves:
The uniqueness of the collection
Its historical and cultural value
The in-person experience as an irreplaceable opportunity
This does not imply concealment, but rather institutional responsibility and a long-term vision. Does discretion imply exclusivity? Discretion is an operational and cultural decision, not a social or symbolic filter. The museum strives to be:
Respectful of its surroundings
Responsible for the heritage it safeguards
Clear in its cultural mission
Accessibility is built through content, mediation, and guidance, not through mass exhibition. Any additions will be made gradually, contextually, and respectfully, in keeping with the spirit of the museum. In short
El Chifladoseo is a museum that prioritizes:
Content over spectacle. Experience over mass appeal. Cultural transmission over promotion. Discretion is not a barrier: it is part of its identity and its commitment to heritage.
