The San themselves will take you on a journey into their history, traditional knowledge, skills, languages, customs and current affairs. This enjoyable and eye-opening event will stay with you for a long time. Besides our San-guided tour we present creative dishes in our cosy restaurant, unique San-produced items in our craft shop and the efficiency that goes along with our conference room. If you would like to stay at !Khwa ttu for a few days our guest house, bush camp and bush cottage provide appealing accommodation. The San are looking forward to welcoming you at !Khwa ttu!

Happy Birthday, Roman!

Today we’re celebrating Roman, our Training Facilitator, who plays such an important role in supporting our interns through their time at !Khwa ttu.

Roman brings patience, guidance and encouragement to every session, helping our interns build new skills, grow in confidence and prepare for opportunities beyond their time at !Khwa ttu.

Thank you, Roman, for the time and energy you put into helping our young people learn, grow and believe in what they can achieve.

Today, we remember and celebrate the birthday of our founder, Irène Staehelin.

In 1999, Irène had a vision. A vision for a place where San heritage, culture and knowledge could be shared, celebrated and carried forward. That vision became !Khwa ttu.

Although Irène is no longer with us, her legacy lives on every day. In the stories we share, in the land we care for, in the Heritage Centre, in the young people who have trained and grown here, and in every staff member and !Khwa ttu alumnus who has been part of this journey.

Her vision continues through the people who walk these paths, welcome our visitors, share San knowledge, care for the land, create, teach and learn.

!Khwa ttu is not only a place she founded. It is a living legacy, shaped by the many people who have carried her vision forward and continue to give it life.

Today, we honour Irène, her courage to dream differently, and the lasting impact of that dream.

Learning is the beating heart of what we do at !Khwa ttu

Every day, we commit to sharing the rich culture, heritage, and knowledge of the San with future generations. One of the ways we do this is through the ||Kabbo Academy Internship Programme, where, every six months, 8–10 young San men and women join us for an immersive six-month journey of learning, growth, and cultural restitution.

Our interns are one of the joys of a visit to !Khwa ttu. Whether they're guiding tours, welcoming guests, or sharing their personal stories, they bring San culture to life in a way that is authentic, inspiring, and unforgettable.

Carmen is one of the friendly faces working behind the scenes to make sure our guests feel comfortable, welcome and at home during their stay. Her care and attention to the little things help create the special experience that guests remember long after they leave.

Heritage Day — a day held close to our hearts🇿🇦

Made even more special when we get to spend it celebrating at Khwa ttu We had an incredible day filled with delicious food, refreshing drinks and wonderful people.

Game drives ran on the hour, every hour and from start to finish there was singing, dancing and such a vibrant atmosphere.

Well done to our friends at !Khwa ttu for putting together such a memorable Heritage Day celebration. We loved being part of it!
