Yesterday, the Nelson Mandela Museum welcomed military personnel and delegations from South Africa and around the world, including representatives from China 🇨🇳, India 🇮🇳 and other nations.

Their visit was more than a journey through history — it was a moment of connection, cultural exchange and reflection on the extraordinary legacy of Nelson Mandela.

From different nations, backgrounds and cultures, we come together through the power of heritage, history and the values that Mandela stood for. 🤝🏿🌍

ON THE LAST THURSDAY OF AUGUST, THE NATIONAL DEFENCE FORCE PAINTED THE STREETS OF MTHATHA!🪖🇿🇦✨

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) landed at the Nelson Mandela Museum, Bhunga Building.

The team, comprising of high ranking officials, Military Medical Services and their own camera crew, took a walk through Madiba’s life journey.

At the end of the tour, they gifted the museum through the Tours Coordinator as a token of appreciation.

SHE WAS THERE 🇿🇦

She marched for freedom. She endured imprisonment. She never surrendered her voice. Remember Dorothy Nyembe — a woman who stood firm for the freedom of South Africa.

She was one of South Africa's important anti-apartheid activists and a leading figure in the struggle for women's rights. She was born on 31 December 1931 near Dundee in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

She joined the African National Congress (ANC) and participated in the Defiance Campaign against apartheid laws.

Became involved in organising women in the community.

She became a prominent leader in protests against the forced removals from Cato Manor and against government-controlled beer halls, which threatened women's livelihoods from traditional beer brewing.

She led the Natal contingent of women who travelled to Pretoria to protest against the extension of pass laws to women

She was arrested several times and, in 1969, was sentenced to 15 years in prison

Dorothy Nyembe's story is especially powerful because she was not simply a participant in the liberation struggle — she was an organiser and leader.
