BACKGROUND
The Red Location Cultural Precinct is uniquely placed on a site where the Anti-Apartheid Struggle was waged by well known activists and the area's residents in a most significant way. It's 1st phase - namely the RED LOCATION MUSEUM was launched on 10 November 2006;

2. The construction of its second phase - namely the RED LOCATION ART GALLERY and the RED LOCATION ELECTRONIC LIBRARY - w

hich was completed in the beginning of 2011 and is awaiting employment of staff and official public opening;

3.The 3rd phase - namely the RED LOCATION PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - which is currently under consultation;

4. The old Bar in Singaphi Street has furthermore been reconstructed into THE RED LOCATION BACKPACKERS LODGE - which was completed in August 2011, and also falls under the Red Location Cultural Precinct). What is unique about the RED LOCATION BACKPACKERS LODGE - is that although it falls under the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality - that t is being run under the banner of THE RED LOCATION BACKPACKERS COOPERATIVE. This Coop has been established a few years ago and have been receiving intensive training in running a Backpackers Lodge. The Coop has already moved into the new Backpackers Lodge - and are preparing together with EDRS Director Lulu Mxgenge towards getting the project going in full steam. The Red Location Cultural Precinct - pages are all functioning on this one page - to give our visitors a comprehensive understanding and provide opportunity for communication on ONE PAGE.
