We recently completed a herpetofaunal survey of one of the newest National Parks in South Africa. The Meerkat National Park is situated 75 km west of Carnarvon in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. This a very unique park as it don't only protect the Nama-Karoo biodiversity and habitat but host one of the largest array of telescopes, called the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). It was hard going, but we recorded 29 species for the park and expect a further 10-15 species to occur there. The highlight of the trip was the discovery of African Bull frogs (Pyxicephalus adspersus) in the park. This expands the distribution of the species 75 km south-westward.
