👋 We would like to welcome Jan Henning to the artist team. We are so excited to have not only his amazing art but his infectious energy and larger than life personality!!
Jan Henning is young contemporary painter based in the Lowveld of the Limpopo Province. He creates from his studio at the foot of Mariepskop mountain close to Hoedspruit. His first love is painting and sketching the beautiful Klein Drakensberg mountains and Lowveld landscapes. Landscapes that is worth protecting. He prefers solitude in the mountains and only ever make public appearances when absolutely needed.
Jan’s work is informed by nature, the conservation of habitats, his own lived experiences, and his immediate surroundings. He puts a particular emphasis on the play of light and how this can influence our emotions. For Jan there is a direct correlation between light, our humanity, and the interaction with the Creator. Jan explores this with loose brush strokes, alla prima oil painting and simply painting what he sees with a sense of urgency.
The theme in his work explores loneliness, mental health and being at peace with oneself.
Jan’s works are in museums, various collections across South Africa, Germany, the United States
