"Audience Developer Wanted"
Sibikwa Arts Centre, an award-winning multidisciplinary creative arts hub on the East Rand, is looking for a passionate and productive people’s person, to be appointed as an audience developer. An NGO, running more than 20 performances, showcases, events and festivals each year, one of Sibikwa’s key priorities is to democratise access to the arts and contribute to sustainability in the sector, through the facilitation of vocational training, performance and income generation opportunities for local creatives. Although based in the City of Ekurhuleni, Sibikwa’s footprint extends across the province, country, and abroad.
Responsibilities
• Build relationships with schools, theatre patrons and venues, private businesses and community groups to purchase tickets to attend performances and events, expanding the diversity of Sibikwa’s audiences
• Use telephonic, face-to-face and other appropriate methods to achieve tickets sales and audience attendance targets in alignment with Sibikwa’s Key Performance Indicators
• Monitor and report achievement of goals on a monthly basis, or more frequently as required
• Work with the marketing team to drive audience engagement, attendance and ticket sales
• Create standard and custom ticketing options, packages and campaigns
• Liaise with target audience groups, respond to inquiries, monitor ticket sales and, when necessary, ensure the timely arrival of audience groups
• Ensure the expansion of Sibikwa’s database, considering requirements of the POPI Act
• Keep updated with industry standards and audience trends to inform sales strategies
• Ensure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in audience development and communication
• Attend events as needed
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
• An understanding of the creative industries and community arts sector
• Experience in marketing, audience development and sales
• Ability to work within set organizational structures
• Ability to approach issues as a solution-oriented, creative, and strategic thinker
• Excellent communication and organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work on-site, off-site and after-hours as required
• Multilingualism, a drivers license and own vehicle is a plus
• A qualification in public relations, marketing/advertising, communications or performing arts is a plus
