Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre The Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre is a place of memory, education and lessons for humanity.

It houses a permanent exhibition and conducts educational programmes for schools, educators and diverse adult groups as well as online webinars. The Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre serves to commemorate the victims and survivors of the N**i regime and the numerous genocides that happened before and since the Holocaust; teaches about the consequences of prejudice, racism and discrimination; and promotes an understanding of the dangers of indifference, apathy and silence.

In a time of growing division, rising antisemitism, and increasing pressure on sport to reflect wider conflicts, moments of unity matter more than ever.

On Sunday, nearly 150 young footballers from across Cape Town came together for the Kurt Landauer Youth Cup — a day that blended sport with history, memory, and reflection. More than just a tournament, it was an opportunity for young people to engage with the story of Kurt Landauer, a Jewish football leader who endured persecution under N**ism and returned to rebuild what was lost.

Across 13 teams, the day was defined not only by competition, but by connection — a reminder that sport can be a space for learning, empathy, and shared humanity.

In a fractured world, initiatives like this show that another path is still possible.
