A project conceived to support and celebrate the achievements of artists from Africa
who are provocative, innovative, relevant and highly engaged with both social issues and their art forms, the Artists In Residency ( AIR) programme partners with artist in residency programmes from around the globe to award exceptional African
artists with an opportunity to take up a short term residency at respe

ctive studios ,
to focus on consolidating their work and developing new projects. Each residency
partner selects one artist from a short list provided by the Africa Centre following
a Continental call for submissions. The costs of the residency and a roundtrip airfare are included in each award.The residencies are available to all forms of artistic expression and types of artists, but each offers different durations, structures and requirements.
