Our ethos is consistent: promote this generation of artists from the African continent, nurture talent & surprise collectors.
situated in the center of Franschhoek, the gourmet, wine and art capital of South Africa’s Cape Winelands district. The picturesque village, only a 45 minutes drive from Cape Town, attracts international as well as South African visitors with a taste for art and fine living which makes it an ideal location to show fine African art.
The inspiring double volume gallery that spans over 160m2, incorporates three distinct exhibition spaces. The entrance room with its welcoming lounge area, the so called “Wing” that lends itself perfectly for solo exhibitions and the “Loft” that offers an ideal space for group shows. This particular, architectural configuration allows for several exhibitions to run simultaneously.
The gallery opened in 2011, predominantly focusing on contemporary artists from the greater Cape Town metropolitan area. Over the years the ‘curatorial curiosity’ expanded beyond the borders of South Africa. An exciting exhibition schedule mirrors this development, showcasing fine art from across the African continent. In 2015 the idea to redefine the concept of ‘Pan Africanism’ within a fine art context, was born. ‘Pan Africa’ has developed into an ongoing project with several large group exhibitions, including emerging and established African artists from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds. We present a series of solo exhibitions throughout the year that run parallel with the group shows.
