Keeping the Spirit of Humanity Alive

Lynn Carneson is one of the veterans of the struggle during apartheid committed to keeping the spirit of humanity alive. Lynn was a Freedom Struggle Child, child of Fred and Sarah Carneson who were dedicated to fighting oppression and racism for a free and fair multi-racial South Africa. As a child she took part in the ANC and Communist Part

y campaigns her parents helped organise and and helped teach literacy and provide food for lines of hungry people needing help. Her parents, comrades and the family as a whole suffered psychological and physical torture, intimidation, isolation, house arrest and her parents were constantly arrested and imprisoned. As an adult she continued to serve in the Struggle in Exile and after the elections for a number of years as Chairman of her local ANC Branch
Her background led to a life-long commitment to enabling people today to understand why the values for which people sacrificed their lives for -respect, dignity, equality, honesty, caring for those suffering in poverty are vital for the quality of our lives. She also wanted people to make their own choices and hopefully not to make similar mistakes to those that happened in the past. An autobiography of her parents called ‘Red in the Rainbow.’
