✨ A new era begins at Du Monyè Art Gallery. ✨

We are evolving.

A new chapter.
A bolder vision.
A deeper celebration of art, colour, movement and expression.

Du Monyè has always been more than a gallery — it is a place where stories are told, creativity is given space to breathe, and artists and community meet.

As we move forward, expect something more immersive, more expressive, and unmistakably Du Monyè.

Because some places simply display art.

We live it.

🎨 Where colours dance and shadows stay.

✋ WHAT CAN A HAND DO? ✋

A hand can give.
A hand can nurture.
A hand can comfort.
A hand can heal.
A hand can lift someone up.
A hand can create.
A hand can protect.
A hand can reach out when someone feels alone.
A hand can plant a seed of hope. 🌱

One hand may seem small…

But place one hand beside another, and something powerful happens.

Hands become a community.
Hands become strength.
Hands become hope.

The children’s hands on our Wall of Hope captured so much attention, but their message reaches far beyond the colours on the wall.

They remind us of what becomes possible when we choose to reach out instead of standing apart.

🤲 Hands can build.
🤝 Hands can unite.
❤️ Hands can love.
🌍 And together, hands can change the world.

This is what Kleurkind became — children, artists and a community joining hands to create something bigger than any one of us.

One hand can make a difference.
Together, our hands can change the world. ✋🌍❤️

✨ 17 YEARS LATER… AND STILL A SHOWSTOPPER. ✨

Last night marked the official opening of KLEURKIND – One Hand. One Story. One Hope. at Du Monyè Art Gallery. 🎨🖐️❤️

What an unforgettable evening — seeing the gallery filled with people, colour, stories and, most importantly, hope.

Standing proudly amongst the children’s colourful artworks was a very special piece of history. 👗🇿🇦

17 years ago, in 2009, designer Daniel Ellis created this extraordinary gown to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela.

With permission received through Madiba’s private secretary, Zelda la Grange, elements including Mandela’s image, handprint and iconic 46664 were incorporated into the design.

The gown went on to win Best Cultural Dress at Mrs. United Nations. 🏆✨

And last night, 17 years after it was created, it proved once again…

IT IS STILL A SHOWSTOPPER. ✨❤️

Guests stopped. They looked. They photographed it. They asked about it. They wanted to know the story behind it.

And perhaps there could be no more meaningful place for this remarkable creation today than standing against the KLEURKIND Wall of Hope — surrounded by the colourful hand artworks of children. 🌈🖐️

A dress inspired by the legacy of a man who believed so deeply in children and their future, now surrounded by little hands carrying their own stories, dreams and hopes.

Last night was more than the opening of an exhibition.

It was the beginning of another chapter. ❤️

What an unforgettable evening at Du Monyè Art Gallery. ❤️🎨

Tonight, at the opening of our exhibition, we officially launched KLEURKIND — a project born from hope, creativity, community and the belief that every child deserves to be seen.

To everyone who joined us: thank you.

To see the gallery so full, with every available space filled by people who came to support the artists, the children and the heart behind this initiative, meant more to us than words can say.

And tonight we also shared something very special — the KLEURKIND song, written to capture the spirit of the project and the stories behind every hand, every colour and every child.

Madiba het geglo...
Dat hoop in kinders leef.
Dat elke hand ’n wêreld kan verander...
En vanaand... het dit hier begin.

This is only the beginning.

Thank you for believing in the vision. Thank you for filling our gallery with love, energy and hope.

KLEURKIND has officially begun. 🌈🖐️❤️

Photos from this very special evening will follow soon.

Every child. Every colour. Every story.

Kleurkind is a song about hope, written for Du Monyè Art Gallery.
