The work of Heinz Mödler is nothing short of exquisite. His masterful eye recalls the timeless vision of photographers such as André Kertész and other giants of a bygone era. Each image is a delicate balance of line and tone, captured and printed the hard way - no shortcuts, only devotion to craft.

It was an immense honour to welcome Mödler once again to Kingsbridge Art as part of the Cape Town Photography Festival. His presence elevated A Sense of Place, reminding us that true artistry lies in patience, discipline, and reverence for the medium.

Though the exhibition has now concluded, selected works remain available to collectors and admirers.

Tiaan van Deventer is a Cape Town based artist and photographer whose work fuses analogue craft with contemporary innovation. From darkroom beginnings to global framing mastery, he has lectured widely and curated for institutions and collectors.

Among his most acclaimed projects is Die Uitgewerptes, a humanistic series documenting homeless Afrikaner men battling addiction, which earned him the Conrad Theys 1st Prize at the Vuleka competition. His latest endeavor, OBSCURA, pushes photography into immersive territory through monumental camera obscura installations, showcased at AfrikaBurn and other venues.

With works in collections across South Africa and Europe, Tiaan continues to redefine photography as a radical, experiential art form that reshapes how we see the world.

Claudia Schneider (Lady and Co Studios) offers a quietly powerful presence in A Sense of Place. Her analogue prints - rich with chemistry and imperfection - render motherhood, ritual and n**e figures in water as slow, tactile meditations on the divine feminine. This is the last week to see the exhibition in person; pop in during business hours to enjoy this intimate celebration of photography.

Tonight the flame is lit - the inaugural gathers voices, strings, and visions into one radiant evening.

Live music by MERVY will weave sound into the night, while poetry ignites the air through the words of Zelri Fiet, Hanru Niemand, Andries van Pretoria, Niel van Deventer, Althea Reitz Holtzhausen, and Claudette Flower.

Come for the resonance of verse, the shimmer of song, and the spark of art.

Welcome to the weekend 🏖️👙🥁🌞

From the stage to the lens - Jaco S. Venter takes part in A Sense of Place at Kingsbridge Art for the Cape Town Photography Festival.

Best known as the drummer for Fokofpolisiekar and aKING, Venter is no stranger to controversy. His art, like his music, thrives on provocation always pushing boundaries and pressing buttons with fearless intent.

Inspired by countless peers and guided by the Greats - Martin Parr, Bruce Davidson, Bruce Gilden, Robert Frank, Don McCullin, William Eggleston, David Goldblatt, and Henri Cartier‑Bresson - Venter’s photography is raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically bold.

A Sense of Place | Cape Town Photography Festival

Meet Sharday Swanepoel (b.1986), a lens‑based artist from Kommetjie.

With roots in architectural studies and life as a mother of four, her practice transforms light into memory. Her photographs blur the familiar and the surreal — intimate yet uncanny, nostalgic yet unsettling.

Through her work, Swanepoel invites us into a world where childhood recollection and maternal identity overlap, revealing the psychological weight of domestic life in hauntingly beautiful ways.
