The extensive needs for repairs and upgrades in the Museum building in Springfield required the artifacts to be placed in a safe place. We have been offered an exclusive museum space on the grounds of the General John A. Logan Museum in Murphysboro, Illinois. Given that Logan was the author of General Orders #11, (Memorial Day orders) the National Convention of the WRC determined that relocating the artifacts to be curated, insured, and properly displayed in the exclusive gallery was wise. We moved the artifacts. Please keep updated about the artifacts by following the progress on the page of the Gen Logan Museum. All artifacts remain the property of the Woman's Relief Corps and are managed maintained and controlled by the same. We thank the Logan Museum for their generous assistance! https://www.facebook.com/generaljohnaloganmuseum

The National Woman's Relief Corps owns and operates the G A R Memorial Museum. Recently while working on building updates and remodeling, we discovered some more building needs issues. I'm sure anyone who has done remodeling of their homes can attest that surprises await when one endeavors to fix one or another issue! For now, the Springfield building is closed. Watch for updates!

Our building is undergoing repairs and adaptations. The artifact collection is being evaluated and inspected by a wonderful Curator. We are considering featuring individual items from the collection by posting photos and details here, at least till a special show is arranged for the Fall. The National Woman’s Relief Corps is the oldest national women’s patriotic organization in America and has preserved these items for teaching and memorializing those who sacrificed so much to end slavery and for our Nation to remain whole.
