I recently experimented with Richeson Casein paint and entered their contest. I have to admit—coming from an oil painter’s perspective, casein isn’t quite my cup of tea… but that might just be the oil painter in me talking, so take that with a grain of salt! Still, I’m really glad I gave it a try. Exploring different materials is always a great way to grow as an artist.

I’m especially excited and honored that my piece was selected for the exhibit. A big thank you to awards juror Gareth Jones for the recognition—it truly means a lot.

Exciting News! 🎨

I am thrilled to share that my painting 'Radiant Daybreak' has been selected for the Spring Show at the Erie Art Museum! Many thanks to the juror, Keliy Anderson-Staley, for choosing my work—it's an honor to be included among such talented artists. The exhibition opens on April 3, 2025, and runs through August 8th, 2025. While I won't be able to attend the opening, I'm eagerly looking forward to experiencing the show.

I had a fantastic time at a Plein Air event at the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge on June 15th. I believe they're hosting another one in August so keep an eye out if you'd like to participate—it was such a beautiful morning out there! They will provide equipment for anyone who wants to give this painting style a try, sign up is required for Aug. if interested. The deer painting is actually from a Plein Air event in '23 that I participated in. This curious little deer kept getting 'too close' to see what I was up to, so I just had to paint it! However, I painting this in the studio—I shooed it away after getting it's picture! This is a little 8x8 inch painting, available on my websiet LazyCreekArt.com
