FROM THE HEROIC FORTIFICATION TO THE PEACEFUL HANOI TODAY ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

In the painting "Fortification" by artist Le Anh Van, Hanoi is vividly brought to life during the heroic National Resistance days in the winter of 1946. Amidst the debris and devastation of war, resilient soldiers stand resolute alongside poignant, everyday details such as a vase of fresh flowers crafted from an artillery shell casing, or a rooster perched proudly on high. These delicate touches evoke an unwavering optimism and a steadfast faith in victory despite the grueling years of hardship.

Three faces, three lives, and a quiet story of ageing in the countryside. ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿง“

In this triptych, Tran Hoang Son turns his attention to older people in rural Northern Viet Nam. Using Chinese watercolour and Japanese black ink on six-layer Dรณ paper, the artist reflects on a changing countryside, where increasing numbers of young people leave for cities in search of work, while older generations remain behind. Their departure not only reshapes rural communities, but also raises broader questions about migration, ageing and social change ๐Ÿ’ซ

๐‘‰๐‘–๐‘™๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘”๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘  entered the collection of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in 2016.

Although the three artists have distinctive creative identities and have followed different artistic paths, their journeys share a common origin: the same family home and the artistic legacy of their father, painter Hong Van.

At 10.00 AM on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, the opening ceremony of ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘‡๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘ ๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ, the first solo exhibition by translator and artist Duc Dzung, will take place at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

Featuring abstract and symbolic works in acrylic and oil on canvas, the exhibition explores Nature, Humanity and Things, inviting viewers to look beyond physical forms towards deeper philosophical reflection. As part of the exhibition programme, Duc Dzung will also launch a collection of 19 books on digital transformation.
