One of our favorite Leon Makielski (American, 1885-1974) works from our current show, Between Two Continents: A 1916 oil on wood panel Delhi Township, Michigan, evening landscape with a view of the Huron River, titled "Twilight". Signed "Leon A. Makielski" with artist inventory number "504" lower right, titled and dated verso. Image 15 3/4 x 12 3/4" high, framed 17 x 14" high overall.

The exhibition and sale will be open this weekend from 9am until 5pm, stop by and see us in person!

Our Leon Makielski (1885-1974): Between Two Continents exhibition opens tomorrow at 3pm!

The European works were painted during Makielski’s early years studying and traveling across the continent, primarily in Paris. The American works include atmospheric scenes from Vermont, painted during travels to New England around the time Makielski met poet Robert Frost, and landscapes from Virginia, drawn from visits to his family in Appalachia.

The gallery will be open until 7pm tomorrow, stop by to see great Michigan art and partake in light refreshments!

Available this Saturday, a 1920s oil on wood panel Vermont summer landscape, titled "Covered Bridge" by American artist Leon A. Makielski 1885-1974). Image 15 1/2 x 12 1/2" high, framed 19 1/2 x 16 1/2" high overall.

Join us for the opening of a major retrospective exhibition featuring over fifty never-before-seen European and American landscape paintings as well as portraits by renowned Ann Arbor artist Leon Makielski. Stop by Saturday, September 6th from 3pm-7pm for the reception, drinks and light snacks provided. No RSVP required, email [email protected] or DM here with any questions.
