Once you know Mary Blair, you start seeing her everywhere. ✨

If you’ve ever taken a trip through Disney’s “it’s a small world,” you’ve already experienced one of the most recognizable examples of Blair’s artistic influence. Walt Disney asked Blair to help develop the attraction’s distinctive look for the 1964 New York World’s Fair, and her bold colors, geometric shapes, and playful sense of design remain unmistakable today.

Even that little Eiffel Tower moment feels a bit different once you know the artist behind it.

You can discover much more of her story at Mary Blair | Mid-Century Magic, now on view at Napa Valley Museum Yountville.

💙 NVMY Color of the Week: Blue

One of the things that made Mary Blair's artwork so unforgettable was her ability to use blue to transform everyday scenes into something magical. Inspired by her work, we started looking for that same feeling around Yountville.

From hot air balloons floating across the morning sky to hidden courtyards, vintage train cars, and peaceful fountains, blue is woven throughout the town—and, of course, throughout Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic, now on view at Napa Valley Museum Yountville.

Where have you spotted your favorite shade of blue around Yountville? Let us know in the comments, and tell us which color we should explore next!

For more than 50 years, Napa Valley Museum has been a place where curiosity comes to life.

What began as a small museum dedicated to preserving local history has grown into a vibrant cultural institution with two inspiring destinations: Napa Valley Museum Yountville and The MAC in St. Helena. Together, we present world-class exhibitions, celebrate the stories that shape our region, and create meaningful experiences through art, nature, and history.

Thank you to our members, visitors, volunteers, and community for being part of our story.

We can't wait to welcome you to one—or both—of our museums soon. ❤️

❤️ NVMY Color of the Week: Red

If there's one color Mary Blair wasn't afraid of, it was red. She used it with purpose, to to catch your eye, create rhythm, guide the story, and bring her whimsical worlds to life. In Alice in Wonderland, vibrant reds lead you through the Queen of Hearts' kingdom, creating bold contrast against softer palettes and making every scene feel playful and unforgettable.

Once you start looking for it, you'll notice that same bold pop of red all around Yountville. From the iconic façade of Bouchon to the Handwritten logo, our town has its own colorful moments hiding in plain sight.

Where else have you spotted a perfect pop of red around Yountville or Napa Valley? Tell us below!
