On Wednesday, October 11, the York Historical Society will host County Historian Amie Alden for a program entitled The Female Perspective: Local Women in the Woman's Suffrage Movement. Her presentation will chronicle the women's rights movement in Livingston County and the involvement of several women who influenced the passage of the suffrage in New York State and ultimately the passage of the nineteenth amendment to the U. S. Constitution.

All are welcome to attend at 7 p.m. at the York Town Hall. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The program is another in the series of the County Historian's research entitled The Female Perspective: Livingston County Women Who Changed the Status Quo.

"Blue Devils in Vietnam" - Wed, Oct 7 at 7 p.m. in the York Town Hall.
Please join us for this program. Refreshments provided, donations welcome and appreciated!!
Three book authors share their Vietnam experiences and the process of gathering local soldiers' stories. Vietnam veterans in the audience who contributed to this book will be introduced and asked to say a few words if they like.

The Town of York Historical Society monthly meeting will be on Wednesday, February 4, at 7PM. We will be meeting, this month, at the YORK TOWN HALL! We will be discussing the sales of the Mary Root book as well as planning future events. Please plan on joining us and bringing warm, springtime ideas to our table!! As usual, all are welcome, we look forward to seeing you!!

Better late than never! The newly reprinted "History of the Town of York," by Mary Root, will be arriving this weekend.

Pre-paid copies can be picked up at the Town Hall between 9:00 and 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 22. (You can also purchase books then even if you did not pre-order. The price is $20.)

If you can't make it to the Town Hall Monday morning, you may call Marta at 243-3394 to see if other arrangements can be made. After the holidays we'll announce additional opportunities to purchase the book in the New Year.

I grew up next door to Orwen's an my grandmother lived on other side,back when I lived there a Orwen family lived in the house.my dad bought a Honda peddle start motor bike for me.i have many fond memories growing up on Dow rd
