What a week it was! A week ago on Sunday, the artists picked up their work from the gallery and giftshop, Monday we finished packing boxes,Tuesday the movers came and transported everything to a storage unit, and Wednesday through Friday demolition was underway. The enclosed pictures only tell part of the story.
With some walls removed and others taken back to the studs we are beginning to imagine what lies ahead. We see the inside history of this building, the many iterations of its hundred-year life. We have great confidence in our contractor, Brian Sleeper of Period Design Restoration, and his crew to make the old new again! In the meantime, we are going to imagine the finished product and plan the many exhibits, workshops and programs that will fill the renovated spaces.

We will give you occasional updates on the project which will also be posted on York Art’s website under the Renovate 2026 heading.
