An exquisite new body of work informed by Lizzie’s 84+ mile walk along Hadrian’s wall in Northern England.

“The landscape there is ancient and long-inhabited. It is a place where the deep past feels near at hand. The views are expansive, the endless undulating patchwork of fields, green on green, stitched together with hedgerows and dotted with dirty white sheep. The word which best describes my feeling for the English landscape would be the Welsh “hiraeth” - a spiritual homesickness, a soulful yearning for place.”

Time in New England, Revisited

Nine photographers locate the timeless in contemporary New England, inspired by the work of pioneering American photographer, Paul Strand. The show reprises Strand’s seminal book of images of pre-1950’s New England and seeks out present-day fingerprints of that particular place and time. Images of architecture, people, and social and natural landscapes carry forward the rich and unique history of one of the oldest parts of our country. Black and white photos of these enduring subjects are presented as a single, traveling collection.

Lizzie Abelson // Peregrination

Inspired by a nine-day journey along Hadrian’s Wall, Peregrination is Abelson’s love letter to the
North of England. These new panoramas, scaled up from her typical miniatures, are informed by eighty-four miles of landscape the artist traversed by foot in September 2025. Precisionist vistas are rendered in Abelson’s signature hand–exacting compositions in harmonious palettes, textured by sandpaper, razorblades, tape, brushes, and even the occasional fingerprint. The work feels both timeworn and timeless, a collection of altered memories from a landscape where the deep past is close at hand.
