Wednesday Wanderings in the Archives: Congratulations to the 2026 Bermudian Springs High School's baseball team on their state championship! The second in program history for Bermudian Springs.

They carry on a winning tradition established around a hundred years ago when Prof. Starry coached several York Springs High School teams to county championships. Pictured are the 1924 champs and their trophy and the 1927 champions at Griest Park where they played.

We will hold our annual "Show and Tell" tomorrow evening at the museum at 408 Main Street starting at 7:30. Come and share a personal artifact and its history with us.

Wednesday Wanderings in the Archives: Ross and Alice Griest Koons were honored by the Bermudian Jaycees at the dedication of Griest Park in 1975. Alice was the daughter of Charles J. Griest, who originally developed Griest Park in 1895 as a baseball field and race track. The Koons would donate the 6.8 acre track of land in to the Bermudian Jaycees for use as a community park named in memory of her father.

The museum will be open tomorrow from 2-4 p.m.. Take this opportunity to visit the new 250th exhibit "In Pursuit of Life, Liberty, and Happiness". The museum will not be open the first Sunday in July due to the July 4th holiday.

Wednesday Wanderings in the Archives: Congratulations to the Bermudian Springs High School Class of 2026 who have a beautiful night for their graduation this evening. Best wishes in your future endeavors.

Yes, it's that time of the year when we celebrate a new class of graduates and remember one from a hundred years ago. As we celebrate the Class of 2026, let us look back to the York Springs High School Class of 1926.

Wednesday Wanderings in the Archives: The Presbyterian cemetery in York Springs (located going south on Old Harrisburg Road) is the final resting place of Robert Livingston, a private with Battery D, 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (112th Pennsylvania). Livingston was twenty years old when he mustered into service at Carlisle on February 29, 1864. He died from dysentery near Petersburg, Virginia in July 1864.

No doubt he would have been remembered in 1895 when about 3,000 people from the area observed Memorial Day in the grove at the Presbyterian Church (only the cemetery is left on the hill). As reported in the "Comet", around 2 pm a procession began in town which included citizens and the orator of the day, the Honorable S. McSwope, as well as the Honorable Cyrus G. Beales, the Revs. Gardner, Reese, and Straub, members of the Peter Miller G.A.R. Post, Latimore Council Jr. O.U.A.M, and a large number of Sunday School scholars and teachers. They were led by Civil War veteran, William T. Jobe, who served as a private in Company K.

Citizens of York Springs and the surrounding area will gather this Monday, May 25 at Sunnyside Cemetery at 10 AM for Memorial Day observance by the York Springs Lions Club.

Wednesday Wanderings in the Archives: Join the York Springs Lions Club for their annual Memorial Day service at Sunnyside Cemetery, 10 AM, Monday, May 25.

As this year marks the 250th anniversary of our Nation's signing of the Declaration of Independence, their program is entitled "America=Land of the Free". Come learn about the lives and times of Columbus, Washington, Lincoln, Hancock, and more.

A shuttle from Wolf’s Bus Lines will transport attendees to the
top of Bonner Hill for the service. Bring a chair for your own comfort. The service will take place unless there is a heavy rain.

Wednesday Wanderings in the Archives: Thanks to everyone who visited the museum on Sunday as we cut the ribbon on our new archival space and opened two new exhibits. It was a great afternoon!
