Yellow Springs Pottery

Yellow Springs Pottery A cooperative retail store of elegant, functional and contemporary pottery by nine local ceramic artists who each work in individual studios.

Yellow Springs Pottery opened as a retail store in 1973, in a tiny space with 4 participating potters. Since then we have moved, expanded, refurbished and refurbished again. Today we are 10 potters. We own the store jointly and operate as a cooperative. This means we share in store sitting, expenses, and the various jobs needed such as advertising, bookkeeping, shipping, etc. This system of shared

ownership has worked very well for us...for forty years!! We are all friends, admire each other’s work, and enjoy running the business. As individual artists, we each have a fully equipped studio at home including our own kilns. Each potter has their own distinctive style and unique selection of glazes. Thus the retail store showcases quite a variety of work.
