The Edward Gorey House celebrates and preserves the life and works of Edward Gorey, an American author, illustrator, playwright, set and costume designer. In honor of his legacy, The House, owned and lived in by Gorey himself, displays his diverse and extraordinary talents and reflects his distinct personality. The House also honors Gorey's passion and concern for animals, raising awareness about

local and national animal welfare issues. As a dedicated commemoration to Gorey, the House strives to educate and inspire its visitors, offering a unique introduction to Edward Gorey, the artist and person.

Just two weeks away from All Around the Common -- and that means Summer is waiting at the bus stop for a ride south. AATC offers free admission to all venues around and adjacent to the Yarmouth Port Common. The Gorey House opens its doors at noon, as it does every Sunday. The other venues open as soon as they wrap up their Shaker Meeting.

Grappling with hopefully usable digital files kindly provided by the Edward Gorey Charitable Trust of Edward's Thoughtful Alphabet Series. The artwork is made from catalog-snipped collage (which has browned out considerably) and Gorey's hand lettering. This series of six broadsides are late career homages to both Dada and the 1990s Zine aesthetic (pretty much the same thing) and have proved to be the most admired works in our 2026 Exhibit O Sordid Type.
