Yardley Historical Association Responsible for Old Library by Lake Afton, acquires and preserves collection of Yardley historical materials, and sponsors variety of educational programs.

The Yardley Historical Association, with headquarters in the Old Library by Lake Afton, maintains a collection of primary and secondary materials, including maps, photographs, newspapers, letters, deeds, and ephemera, related to the Yardley area. The Yardley Historical Association sponsors a variety of educational programs. Local history and special interest topics are featured at general membership meetings. Seasonal events take place in June and December. The public is invited to all general meetings and special programs. The Association also conducts tours of historic Yardley and provides speakers for school and community groups.

LOCAL LOVE: Our community network is such a strong aspect of Yardley, PA. We have many organizations that work hard to bring people together in a multitude of ways, whether through music, food, creativity, business, sustainability, or history…

In store this fall, we are featuring some of the origins of our local fabric by partnering with the Yardley Historical Association to show original downtown streetscapes. Downtown Then & Now depicts a number of small, family-owned businesses lining Main Street throughout the last century, shown with the logos of businesses that now occupy the spaces.

Now more than ever, it is important to recapture the best from the past - whether it be a shop proprietor who knows your name, reusing a mason jar or supporting local commerce. AI is fast on our heels - keeping our real human connection is essential.

Many thanks to Susan and Lee from the Yardley Historical Association for lending these wonderful photographs - they are actively looking for new members should you be interested to know even more!

Seven 7th generation descendants of Thomas Yardley visited Yardley Borough yesterday. Siblings and cousins are on an adventure to discover where their ancestor settled in America in 1704. Hailing from Maine, Ohio, Texas and Arkansas, none had been in this part of Pennsylvania before.
Here they are posing at Lake Afton with Thomas Yardley's home, Lakeside, and his business, the Gristmill, in the background.

It was wonderful to have so many inquisitive and fun Yardleys in town!
