🇺🇸 THANK YOU, Bucks250PA! Together, we’re bringing history to life! | With the Bucks250PA Mini-Grant support, Gather Place’s America 250th Gallery has connected our community’s stories to our nation’s 250th anniversary—creating a welcoming place to look, learn, reflect, and share inside Yardley’s Historic 1877 AME Church.
Since our January 2026 launch, we’ve welcomed a steady flow of families, seniors, students, educators, history lovers, and heritage travelers! Rotating exhibits and conversations highlight African Americans, women, Quakers, and immigrants whose contributions help us understand liberty, justice, equality, and belonging.
🏛️ Our broader 250th efforts have carried these themes into schools, libraries, assisted living residences, senior centers, historic sites, and community and faith-based spaces—from first-person portrayals of Harriet Tubman at Charles Boehm Middle School and Susanna Warder at Pennsbury Manor, to our Black History program presentation at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg, Central Bucks Lucretia Mott at Chamber of Commerce - Women in Business Luncheon, Doylestown & Bensalem Libraries, Quakertown Historical Society & Quakertown Friends Meeting, Middletown Friends Meeting, and Frederick Douglass & Lucretia Mott for Ye Olde Yardleyville Festival with Yardley Friends Meeting.
📍 Our Abolitionist Trail Hub connects visitors with countywide Underground Railroad sites and Revolutionary Trail resources. Our Yardley walking tours explore freedom seekers, Black churches, Quaker abolitionists, and the Derry family’s eight-generation legacy—including the late Mayor Edward E. Robinson, Yardley Borough's & Pennsylvania's first African American Mayor - a lifelong Yardley Borough resident and member of the historic AME Church of Yardley - reflecting the often-untold stories of African Americans of Bucks County and Beyond! Gather Place - "We're bringing history off the walls into the hearts & minds of our communities!"
