Yakima Valley Museum Founded in 1951, the Yakima Valley Museum is located adjacent to beautiful Franklin Park. Douglas; and a changing schedule of special exhibitions.

This 65,000 SF facility offers local historical exhibits and features artwork by local artists. The Yakima Valley Museum offers historical exhibits on the Yakima Valley—its natural history, American Indian culture, pioneer life, early city life, and the roots and development of the Valley’s fruit industry. The museum also has a superb collection of horse-drawn vehicles, from stagecoach to hearse; a historical exhibit and reconstruction of the Washington D.C. office of former Yakima resident and environmentalist, Supreme Court Justice William O.

As temperatures continue to drop, the Yakima Valley Museum is gearing up for the spooky Halloween season!

We couldn’t help but highlight a particularly ghoulish artifact in our collection: a toy cart pulled by a wicked witch! It was made around 1935 from pressed paperboard by the Dolly Toy Company in Dayton, Ohio. This inexpensive material made these toys more affordable for consumers, which was especially important during the Great Depression, when families had little to no spending money.

This particular toy was donated to the museum by Paul Schafer, a retired Eisenhower High School history and civics teacher.

It's National Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work Day! For over a century, these iconic stuffed animals have been faithful companions for kids and adults everywhere. Warm, fuzzy, and fun, teddy bears help us face our fears, provide comfort, and sometimes even chip in around the office. It's Filipino American History Month! This October, we're celebrating in partnership with the Filipino American National History Society - Yakima Chapter 26. All month long, we'll be displaying this exhibit dedicated to Filipino American history and traditions in the Yakima Valley. Looking for a way to give back to your community? Recently retired and searching for a new passion project? Yakima Valley Museum is the place for you! Volunteers at YVM help with all sorts of projects, from event support to archival research to outreach activities. As we head into the school year, we’re especially looking for volunteers who are interested in helping with tours for field trip groups. Training is provided, and our tour guides receive amazing opportunities to see the direct impact our museum has on our youngest visitors.
