¡Vengan a conocer ambas exposiciones!

Opening on Saturday, Oct 31, 3-5 PM: "From Mexico to Yakima: Contemporary Oaxacan Prints" is curated by art historian Dr. Deborah Caplow. It presents a selection of prints made by contemporary Oaxacan printmakers using a variety of printmaking processes. Oaxaca has become a center for contemporary printmaking, with print studios run by individual artists or collectives producing strong, vibrant work that has caught the attention of art enthusiasts worldwide. The influence of Oaxacan printmaking can be seen in the work of printmaker Christie Tirado (MFA, University of Wisconsin, formerly of Yakima) who is also included in this exhibition, creating a direct line of artistic practice between the Oaxacan and Yakima art communities. Please also join us for a curator's talk on Thursday, Nov 12 at 6 PM. Thanks to our exhibition sponsors, Marisol and Dave Fast.

But wait, there is more! This exhibition takes place at the same time as "La Plaza: a Community Celebration through Día de los Mu***os", by the Mezcla Collective, is an immersive art installation in the original Larson Gallery space, across the street from the new Larson Gallery. Join us to experience them both! Both exhibitions run through Dec 4, 2026

Preview on Friday, Oct 30th from 5-7 PM, and opening Saturday, Oct 31, 3-5 PM: "La Plaza: a Community Celebration through Día de los Mu***os," by the Mezcla Collective, is an immersive art installation that takes place in the original Larson Gallery space, across the street from the new Larson Gallery, adjacent to Prior Hall on the YVC Campus. The Mezcla Collective is a group of talented Yakima-based artists whose mission is to support, advocate for, and provide collaborative space for BIPOC+ artists in Central Washington. Everything they do is beautifully done, and this will be no exception! This installation will create a community space, both symbolically — through the installations’ echoing the form of the plaza at the center of a town — and in reality, by inviting various community organizations to participate.

There's more! This exhibiton takes place at the same time as "From Mexico to Yakima: Contemporary Oaxacan Prints" -- come join us and experience both!

The opening for the exhibition, on Oct 31 from 3-5 PM, will feature live music by Jo-Anne Carlson.
Exhibitions are free and open to the public.
