FREE Collage Class TONIGHT!

WAA member Bob Maizer will be hosting 2 new collage classes this month!

Just drop-in on Friday, August 21st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and/or Sunday, August 30th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Bob will be teaching attendees how to use gel medium to attach and seal paper. You'll have your choice of canvas board or stretched canvas to work on, along with a tint gel medium to glaze the finished work.

Our gallery is located at 73 Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY. We're open every Friday, 5 p.m. til 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, from 12 p.m. til 4 p.m. throughout August.

featuring our August Artist of the Month
Jay LeRoy

Inspired by the symbolic art of alchemy and tarot, 60’s psychedelia, Surrealism, Art Deco, and even comic books, LeRoy’s work traverses the realms of spirit, psyche, metaphysics and the occult. The show features a collection o digital and mixed media illustrations examining his conceptions of Creation, Consciousness, Archetypal Forces and expressions of the personal symbolism he’s developed over decades of exploration. A limited quantity of his tarot deck, The Red Magician’s Tarot, will also be available to purchase along with copies of his art books and small prints.

***NEW DATE - Sept. 5th***
WAA member Debra Lopez will be hosting “Intro to Drawing” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, August 22nd and September 5th.

Learn how to master simple lines, shapes and drawing to proportion. Learn to sketch loosely and lightly, breaking down objects into basic forms. Supplies are provided or you can bring your own sketchbook and pencils. The class is intended for ages 16 and older, with a maximum of eight students.

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, Wurtsboro Art Alliance recognizes the historic significance of our surrounding area with our “Plein Air and Historic Places” exhibition this September.

“We are in the middle of some of early America’s major battlegrounds,” says WAA member Pearl Lau, one of the artists in the show. “Often I’m painting in the field that General Lafayette had his troops practice in.” The show features over ten artists, represented in different media like oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor.

The public is invited to the Opening Reception on Saturday, September 5th, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. View an exhibition honoring our country’s history and enjoy light refreshments in the garden!

Wurtsboro Art Alliance is located in The John Nielson Gallery at 73 Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY and currently open Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays & Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bring whatever art materials you want to work with. Only water based paints, pigments, pencils. Use watercolor paper (hot press for detailed flowers or cold press for landscapes) or gesso board or canvas for acrylic gouache. Small 8”x10” or 9”x12”, up to 12"x16”.

Floral, landscape, birds or animal and abstract subject matter. Please bring any reference materials photo or live plants.

Fee is $130 for WAA members and $150 for non-members, for three classes consecutive sessions. Individual classes are $50. Cash or check made out to “Wurtsboro Art Alliance”. (“Rosenthal” in the memo.)

🍁Join WAA member Patricia Blanco on Sunday, October 11th for “Fall Wreath Making” from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Come enjoy a wreath workshop with Pat, making a deco mesh Fall wreath! Use deco mesh, ribbon and embellishments to create a bright, colorful wreath for your front door or to give away as a gift. The holidays will be coming soon, get ready! The class is intended for adults with a maximum of twelve students. All supplies are provided.
