βHistory never looks like history when you are living through it." β John W. Gardner
We are currently involved in making history. What we decide today will have direct impact on what we do tomorrow. In 1821, the tiny town of Worcester voted in town meeting to establish a school. In the years that followed, nine districts were formed, each with a one-room school. In 1976, our community fought in Federal Court to create Doty Memorial. When all the facts were presented, Worcester won. And now, two hundred and five years since 1821, after seven generations of children have been taught and nurtured by countless incredible educators right here in town, we must decide whether our school is worth fighting for. We will be making history on February 10. Take a look at two centuries of facts, linked here, and decide if it is time to close Doty. Our community will be forever impacted by our decision.
