Woodstock History Center

Woodstock History Center Woodstock's Center of History and Culture Visitors may tour the museum flush with fascinating local artifacts and view several new exhibitions each year.

The History Center, located in the heart of the village and historic district, celebrates the evolution of Woodstock over the past two hundred and fifty years. In addition to its museum, the History Center has an extensive library where researchers are welcome to view historical and genealogical information, photographs and other ephemera. For those who prefer the outdoors, the History Center has perennial gardens and a beautiful back lawn with a view of Woodstock Village's only covered bridge.

On this day in Vermont's history: the state officially adopted its third (and current) flag in 1903: a blue banner with the Vermont Coat of Arms in the center. The pine tree in the center represents Vermont's forests, the cow and wheat represent the state's agriculture heritage, and the deer head on top represents the state's wildlife. The banner at the bottom proclaims the state's motto: "Freedom and Unity".
