Shining Mountain Golf Course was a great venue for our award ceremony for the plein air portion of Peak Art Adventure. TONIGHT we have the awards ceremony for the art show portion at the gallery. Overall, $12,000 in prizes have been awarded.

First Friday Art Walk is right around the corner! August 7 is when the town wakes up at night with businesses staying open until 7 p.m. Bars and restaurants are still open longer...of course. Usually the gallery closes at 4 but not on the First Friday...we are open until 7. And, we'll serve refreshments! Stop by and see the Peak Art Adventure Art Show and visit with Trent Lanning, our featured artist for the month. He recently won a ribbon and award at the Western Art Show! Hope to see you out and about. : )

Who is Danny Tramel?

Danny says, " I signed up for my first country music competition, The Colgate Country Showdown, and was the southern Colorado winner and state finalist for two years in a row.

Around this same time, I auditioned at Colorado State University on trombone for their music program and was accepted and awarded a scholarship. After only one semester though, I realized that my love of music lay with the guitar so I transferred to the University of Northern Colorado to study music education with an emphasis on classical guitar.

In college, I tried out for another country music competition, American Country Star, and was a national finalist. After the competition, I started having thoughts of joining the Army. My dad and most of our family friends had served in the Army and I always admired them for their service. College and music were going well, but I felt there was something bigger I needed to be a part of. On January 12th, 2011, I swore into the Army Reserves as an electrician and shipped off to basic shortly thereafter.
I began teaching at Manitou Springs Middle/High School where I still currently teach the greatest students ever.

All the while I was gigging out almost every weekend either as a solo act or with my friends in a band called 'Plain As Day.' We sure had some of the best nights I can remember playing really great country/rock music for some killer audiences. During this time is when I met my beautiful future wife Stephanie and her daughter Janette. Fast forward to present day and we have a son named Eli who was born in 2020!"

Hopefully, you'll join the excitement on Sunday at Shining Mountain Golf Course. Peak Art Adventure is a two-fold event...a plein air paint out and an art show! The event in 2026 is July 22 - August 25 with the different activities. This event started four years ago with a $1000 prize and now, it is over $12,000. On Sunday...you can watch some of this excitement. Artists are here from far-away places like Arizona and Louisiana but we are also so happy to have so many of our local AMAZING artists participating. We just have the best talent here! Including, Danny Tramel.

Sunday's event (August 2) is at Shining Mountain Golf Course. We are excited to partner with the City on this event. Hope you can join us!
