This weekend, celebrate history by stepping inside a house built around 1740, exploring its distinctive gambrel-and-saltbox architecture, and discovering the regional furniture collection that helps bring 18th-century life into focus. The Gertrude Jekyll Garden offers a beautiful outdoor complement to the museum experience. September is made for slowing down, strolling the paths, and appreciating the garden’s transition from summer abundance toward autumn. The Museum Shop is Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Museum Guided Tour Days: Entry available 1 to 3:20 pm. Self-Guided Tour Days: Entry available 1 to 3:45 pm. Celebrating Gertrude Jekyll at The Glebe House 🌿Few gardeners have left a legacy as extraordinary as Gertrude Jekyll — a pioneering plantswoman, gardener, and writer whose influence can still be felt today. At The Glebe House, home to the only garden designed by Jekyll in the United States, we’re currently renovating our garden, and it feels especially meaningful to reflect on her remarkable work. Inspired by her Arts and Crafts contemporaries William Morris and John Ruskin, and closely connected with William Robinson and Edwin Lutyens, Jekyll’s gardens were known for their vibrant colour, rich planting, and creative spirit. Her legacy is beautifully captured by the words on her Munstead Wood gravestone: artist, gardener, craftswoman — a perfect description of a true trailblazer. ✨ To help us with our restoration, please donate what you can at https://www.glebehousemuseum.org/annual-appeal

When Kate Kelley contacted the Glebe House Museum, we had no idea that we would be reunited with an object from our past that we didn't have in our collection. The "tile trivet" (c. 1975) had been made to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Glebe House Museum's opening in 1925. These were sold a...
